DCC-9 is the best solution to connect an EV charger to the feeder of a panel in an apartment or condo and in single-family homes where no additional breaker space is available. DCC-9 permits direct utility billing to unit for all electricity consumed by charging.
DCC-9, manufactured by Thermolec, is an EV Energy Management System specifically designed to allow the connection of a charger to the main feeder of the panel without affecting the load calculation.
Ideal for the installation of chargers in multi-residential buildings, such as apartments or condominiums.
Exterior installations will require DCC-9-3R.
How it works:
DCC-9 allows the connection of any EV charger to a fully loaded panel by managing the energy available at any given time.
DCC does a real-time reading of the total power consumption of a home or condo electrical panel;
It detects when the total power consumption of the main circuit breaker exceeds 80% and temporarily de-energizes the charger.
When DCC detects that the total power consumption of the electrical panel is less than 80% for more than 15 minutes it automatically re-energizes the charger.
DCC will only allow power to be delivered to the EV charger if the total demand of the panel is below its full capacity.
OPERATION
Real-time reading of the total panel power consumption with pre-wired current transformers (CT).
Detects when total power consumption exceeds 80% of main circuit breaker capacity and temporarily de-energizes the EV charger.
Automatically re-energizes the EV charger when the total power consumption is less than 80% of main circuit breaker capacity for more than 15 minutes.
