Both the IDEAL Electrical SureTrace™ Circuit Tracer (61-946) and the IDEAL Electrical SureTrace™ Plus Circuit Tracer (61-948) will enhance the trusted SureTrace™ line by incorporating the latest technological advances at a more affordable price.
Replacing the 61-955, the entry-level SureTrace™ Circuit Tracer (61-946) is an easy-to-use trouble shooting tool for finding breakers and fuses; conductors in walls, ceilings, and floors; dead shorts; opens on conductors; splice errors. It is targeted towards use in residential and commercial applications.
Can be used on energized and de-energized systems as well as 3-Phase systems carrying up to 480V AC/DC
Receiver (RC-946) has a backlit display and a mute button
Transmitter (TR-946) has a hanging strap clip (strap sold separately, part # UMHS-757), and integrated kickstand
Receiver and Transmitter have an industrial grade over molding that enhances grip and drop protection
Kit includes: color coded two bladed receptacle plug with banana plugs, pair of 3-foot-long leads, 2 alligator clips, ground adapter, 2 blade adapters that attach to the lead set, 10 1.5V AA batteries, and an easy-open, compact soft case.
Replacing the 61-957, the SureTrace™ Plus Circuit Tracer (61-948) is targeted towards use in commercial and industrial applications. It comes in a rugged hard case, and has all the capabilities and features of the 61-946, plus:

Transmitter (TR-948) features a patent pending built in continuity test eliminating the need for a second tester when searching for wiring faults and it indicates 8 different voltage levels between 24 - 600 V AC & 12 to 600 V DC as well as DC polarity
Receiver (RC-948) features dual high visibility displays visible in all lighting conditions/positions via a patented 180° rotating main display and patented TightSight® secondary display making high/low tracing and breaker identification in tight spaces easier
NCV that indicates the presence of 24 to 600V AC
Flashlight for use in poor lighting conditions.
